Grid Capacity Strategy and Energy Modelling for Industrial Expansion

Highlights

• Addressed 90% grid capacity shortfall for 90,000 m² industrial expansion• Modelled flexible loads, solar PV, and BESS to optimise energy strategy

Project Details

Longevity Partners’ renewable energy division, Longevity Power, developed a grid capacity strategy to support a 90,000 m² industrial expansion project in the Netherlands. Facing a 90% shortfall in available grid capacity, the team conducted detailed energy modelling to identify solutions combining flexible electrical loads, onsite solar PV generation, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This integrated approach enabled the client to evaluate multiple operational and financial scenarios to mitigate grid constraints and maintain project timelines. The analysis also identified pathways to avoid interim grid upgrade costs while ensuring compliance with future energy and sustainability requirements. The resulting strategy provided a clear roadmap for resilient, low-carbon energy infrastructure capable of supporting long-term industrial growth.
