Shopping center Hoog Catharijne:
This largely renovated shopping center is the number one Fashion and Food destination of the Netherlands. The shopping center attracted about 30 million visitors in 2019. It is located next to railway station ‘Utrecht Centraal’ and is adjacent to the city center of Utrecht. Hoog Catharijne has an average energy label A and has been assessed for BREEAM In-Use on the ‘Asset’ and ‘Management’ components. Both the passage and the general spaces, together accounting for about 56,593 m2, were looked into. The shopping center received a BREEAM In-Use score of “Very Good” on the Asset component. The score “Good” was achieved on management.
The Markthal:
The Markthal was designed by architect Winy Maas of the well-known Rotterdam architectural firm MVRDV. A typical characteristic of this building is the large arch, in which 228 apartments have been realized. The hall itself is about 40 meters high, 70 meters wide and 117 meters long. This hall is home to both shops and catering establishments. In the BREEAM In-Use assessment, the hall on the ground floor and the common areas on floors 1 and -1 are included, adding up to a total of 4,896 m2. The Markthal received a BREEAM In-Use score of “Very Good” on the Asset component. On management, the score “Good” was achieved.
Alexandrium Shopping Center:
This shopping center consists of various parts that are connected by means of a passage on the first floor. The building has an energy label A and is home to 140 shops, attracting about 8 million visitors annually. This BREEAM In-Use certification included the passage and common areas, together accounting for 14.234 m² of usage functions. The mall received a BREEAM In-Use score of “Very Good” on the Asset component. On management, the score “Good” was achieved.
Villa Arena:
This building serves as a shopping center and is located next to the Amsterdam Arena, home of football club Ajax. Villa Arena consists of three floors, in which mainly shops are located that focus on the living and home accessories sector. This BREEAM In-Use assessment covers only the passage and common areas, accounting for a gross floor area of 29.227 m2. Villa Arena has an average A+ energy label and received a BREEAM In-Use score of “Very Good” on the Asset component. On management, the score “Good” was achieved.
